Taylor Winn's fresh take on Abstract Expressionism brings new zest and accessibility to large scale paint and clay abstractions. In the context of a modern multi-media anything goes art culture, Winn is bringing paint back in a big way. Winn's paintings, up to 8 feet tall by 20 feet wide, feature unusually appealing color choices and striking chemical reactions between selected paints to achieve the cracking, bubbling, color separations and oil slicks on the surface of his work. The raw process of creating art is clearly valued here and viewers are mesmerized anew with the sincerity of this young man's work.
Inspiration from the early masters of Abstract Expressionism, notably Jackson Pollock, has led Winn's journey to define a personal visual language. In his explosions of paint, the artist orchestrates a balance in each work indicating a heightened awareness of the physics of paint in motion.
Working from studios on Barton Creek in Austin Texas, Taylor Winn and twin brother Walker Winn have exhibited together and separately at regional and national venues since 2005.
